Mayfair Granite anyone used recently?

I've had a really good quote from Mayfair for Silestone Quartz, I just wondered if anyone had used them recently, I found the posts really helpful on the granite thread about them from a couple of years back but wondered if anyone has used them recently.

I'm not close by to them and the local granite place to me can't see how on their quote they are making any money so I'm a bit concerned if I say yes I'm going to regret it. Its a £1000 difference in price so a huge amount of money.

I've read I need to check underneath the slab and Silestone should be imprinted on it.

You need to find out who is fabricating your worktops, and who is fitting them. Have you visited the works? Is the work being sub contracted out to the cheapest source available? Indeed, will you be receiving Silestone or will they be substituting a Chinese cheaper alternative?

Others will disagree but I believe the general standard of quartz worktops on templating, manufacture and installation varies between abysmal and just about acceptable.

I have Silestone in my home. This was sourced through construction contacts using the supply chain and recommendations. Hence I was in a far better position than most consumers. The end result was appalling. This was never resolved because the industry is incapable of resolving such issues in a sensible, and pragmatic manner. This applies to Silestone as a company, who could not give a ---- about anyting except making profits through to their cronies who template, fabricate and fit the product.

Hence proceed with great caution.
