Replacement warm air heating unit- what/how/why?

I have already asked on here about people's experience with warm air ducted heating. We are looking at buying a house built in 1970, with a separate (and original) Lennox warm air system and hot water heater.
To me, I think these systems look like they may need imminent replacement. My questions are then:
Will new systems do heat + hot water therefore negating the need for 2 separate units in two rooms?
Can the air filters be fitted to old vents and systems to upgrade them?
Is it likely to contain the dreaded asbestos anywhere?
Any ideas at all of time this would take a fitter?
Should we even do this, or replace with rads? ( although the more I read I think I like the system)
Apart from the main heat exchanger unit, would it be sensible to upgrade any other components- vents into rooms, ducting, etc?
Thanks:)

Why? filter is in the boiler

Already answered
replace with rads?
Spend thousands ripping out a working system just to fill the house with rads ....madness

No , would not contemplate any 'upgrades'
ould it be sensible to upgrade any other components- vents into rooms, ducting, etc?
VERY very unlikely , live with the system for a year
FIND a local warm air specialist and get him to look at your new system
Better still live with it for a year.0 -

Good luck with that.over 73 but not over the hill.0 -
A friend just had this dilemma. What they did in the end was have a new boiler fitted, with a special heat exchanger rad where the warm air heating boiler was. They already had radiators and a separate boiler in the extension so it made sense to combine it, but they didn't want to rip the place apart installing radiators in the older portion od the house.
By all accounts it works very well and solves the problem. His wife prefers the air heating in the main house due to radiators not taking up space.
Seems like a pragmatic solution!0 -

Thanks for this. Sounds sensible and similar to the house we are looking at as they have a conversion/ extension above the garage. I hadn't thought about having effectively a wet system in the extension and a dry warm air in the rest of the house and combining...0
