ESA Reviews

I was wondering if someone could help. A friend of mine is currently receiving ESA Support Group and I know 12 months will be up come October/November time. I assume the friend will receive the dreaded pink form again to fill in then.

My questions are as this has been changing so much

1. Is there still a delay on reviews getting assessed. I know about 18 months the government put a hold on reassessments but is there is still this huge delay now or still on hold or is it that once the form is sent off that will get seen quickly. I know someone another friend who is on ESA and still has not been seen since last November when claim got put in not even had the assessment on which group they are going in.

2. Given the nature of the friends illness (Cancer) and mobility he has got letters to support that he is still going through cancer treatment and seeing someone about his mobility. Do they just look at the facts and make informed decision about what is presented. I would rather he didnt have to go through the pantomime of reassessments.

Any help appreciated................

Reviews are now taking place again (Maximus took over the contract from Atos for undertaking Work Capability Assessments in March this year) but there is a substantial backlog. Back in March, when reassessments recommenced, Maximus were conducting WCA's that had been due to take place some 14 months earlier, in January 2014. I'd imagine it will be some considerable time before they are up to date.

It varies from area to area- i've been told by my JC that locally Maximus are prioritising new claims (as did ATOS with their backlog) and I can expect to be re-assessed in 2016 or even 2017 (due in a few weeks). Basically the 18 month delay is still in place here.
