Has anyone ever done one of Ann Wilson's Financial Freedom University online courses?

Trying to work out whether spending £700 on a series of online workshops is sensible (!) or not?
I'm trying to find some impartial advice from someone who has actually done it....

I've tried to Google and it seems as if you're not talking about a proper university but Ann Wilson is herself the university.
It the same as me saying to you ......... Pay SailorSam university £700 and i'll tell you how to get-rich-quick.

I kinda knew the responses I'd get on here! I think the get rich quick thing is a bit harsh, it's generally a decadal aim iirc. But I know what you are getting at. I'm sure you could also learn everything for no cost on forums like this but i'm time poor.

No, it not a university at all, I think it's just a fleshed out version of her book...

You sound like one of the model customers to help Ann Wilson with her financial freedom.

Probably better just putting the £700 into a savings account. Or spend the time here reading how to invest properly.

Having never tried to spend £700 on a series on online workshops from a crackpot who probably has something else to sell me at the end of it, I'm ill-equipped to confirm whether or not it's much better than spending £7 in late fees at your local library for a few books on investment or family budget management. But somehow I doubt it's 100x better.

There are plenty of resources out there, including free forums of course. An example of an ACTUAL online university is the Open University, and they run free courses from time to time in conjunction with other groups under the Openlearn banner. For example they did a series this year, Managing my Money and Managing my Investments: http://www.open.ac.uk/business-school-research/pufin/course-modules/managing-my-money

The beginner-level course Managing my Money is still available online through Openlearn at http://www.open.edu/openlearn/money-management/managing-my-money/content-section-overview

It's tempting to throw money at someone who claims to have a silver-bullet solution that won't require you to do much homework or background reading and will just allow the answers to fall into your lap. For £700 of cash and whatever the book costs, you too can discover that there are '5 core recipes for wealth' and perhaps by the time you're 38 you will have your financial freedom just like Ann did - write a book and a blog, become a life/wealth coach, and stop 'actively working' because you're able to live off a combination of your book proceeds and getting paid for consulting and running courses and don't call it work because it's what you like doing, so you can call it financial freedom.

If you want the touchy feely homeopathic side of wealth creation, simply read the Wealth Chef blog, where she will EMPOWER you to LIBERATE yourself from the shackles of how society views money and differentiate between your NEEDs and WANTs and use BUZZWORDS to help you SELF-ACTUALIZE your way to creating your FREEDOM FEAST. If you simply enter your NAME and EMAIL to get the ongoing spam which teases you towards getting her LATEST BOOK you will clearly find the 12 KEYS TO YOUR WEALTH VAULT.

I expect that one of those keys will be the discovery of the FREE VIDEOS which are essentially 30-50 minute teasers of the FINANCIAL FREEDOM UNIVERSITY without giving you any real information but just IMPARTING WARM FUZZY FEELINGS about how great things will be once you've SIGNED UP TO THE UNIVERSITY and here's some EXAMPLES OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAD FANTASTIC SUCCESS without any of the detail or small print about how they achieved it. Don't hesitate to act because REGISTRATION ONLY OPENS ONCE A YEAR AND IT'S HAPPENING IN JUST A FEW DAYS.

Does that sound like the sort of thing you'd like to take further? Or does it sound like a snake-oil saleswoman who does not care a single jot about you the person - just you the cheque-writer - as she relaxes in her home country of South Africa, where cost of living is much lower but she's earning income at UK and US prices fueled by an international media machine? I guess you can emulate her if you buy the course and somehow the rest of your circumstances match hers too.

If you want advice on living frugally to achieve financial freedom, try the ethos promoted by Mr Money Mustache. His advice is very sound and his blog prolific. To follow in his footsteps of course you might need to relocate to a cheaper part of the country, give up material posessions, build your own home while putting all your savings into second and third properties as well as investment funds ; at some point you will be financially free even though everyone else looks at you funny. But in seriousness, his blog is decent and free and he's not trying to sell you a bunch of videos.

Might be cheaper to get her book out of the library instead.

    Are you sure about that?

Just for fun, I visited the site. The offer already closed on July 21. A few seconds later the format changed and a countdown clock shows it closes in 20 hours time, midnight PDT (which might imply the main target audience is California).

I wonder if the same thing will happen tomorrow. After all, why lose 364 days of opportunities
