I'm in receipt of a parking ticket, & unfortunately have received a letter demanding £140 from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd.
Is this legitimate and do I have to pay it?

please read the NEWBIES sticky thread, especially post #4 in it
and NO is the answer0 -
Thanks for your reply, but I'm unsure whether to pay it or not. I've never been in trouble before and don't want to now.0

that is your choice to make
you are not "in trouble" , its a civil dispute , not a criminal one
you are alleged to owe a parking company money for an unpaid invoice due to a vehicle being "parked" on a premises that they supervise
as its not been paid, they have asked debt collectors to get involved (who are powerless by the way, they can only send you scary letters, same as dracula or beelzebub)
so as its a civil matter, you need to weigh up your options
but this is no longer a parking topic, its a debt collector topic, which this forum doesnt actually deal with , other than to point you at post#4 of the newbies thread
if it had been a plumber that sent you an invoice for an unpaid job, it would be the same if he involved the debt collectors, yet it would not be a parking issue nor would you be "in trouble"
so this started as a parking issue, but is now an alleged debt
why you say that means you are "in trouble" is beyond me0
