Being wireless adds to the costs and doesn't remove the need to provide power by cables.

You haven't really given enough detail of your needs to provide meaningful replies. External cameras or just inside? Live only or recording? Day only or night too? View on phone just from home or over the internet too?

They will be external cameras, with recording so if anyone comes in my garden I can see. Would like to view over Internet but not 100% must

I did buy one of those Swann 466 cameras but it won't read the qr barcode so going back. Heard a few people have this issue. Maybe best that the video storage is at my house

    I've been Money Tipped!
Last month l bought a dvr kit from Amazon, up to now so far so good. With the help of my husband we quickly set up and it runs well as for recording work with two external lens. I do recommend it to u as for its cloud system and p2p which can be a large storage and make it possible for viewing from internet. But I do not know whether u will like it..HTH.

I'd agree that recording is best done using a DVR system. They typically use cables for the cameras not wireless.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Maplins yet. They do sell kits but you can easily beat their prices on Amazon or eBay. Cloud based systems make external viewing a whole lot easier. My own setup isn't cloud based but I do have a fixed IP and know my way around port forwarding on routers.

I have 4 cheap dome cams (typically < £30 each) and a DVR I bought on eBay without any disk - that involved a lot of trial and error finding a disk that worked as the firmware in them is very picky so best to get one with a disk already in it unless (like me) you have quite a few spare HDDs in your junk box.

With a cheap setup don't expect high quality. This a a short video my neighbour asked me to dig out after his car got vandalised. No chance of positive ID but the police told him they were pretty sure who the vandal was from the clip.
