So hope I'm saying the same in a few weeks time (am taking as a given the oven will be filthy, life is too short and I might just get it replaced
).
The oven was new last year so I am going to try and salvage it if we can. Good luck with your tenant removal!
Your plan seems very sensible :T. But don't you DARE fall foul of the One More Year syndrome!!!!!!0 -
Oh you have been busy and had to make some tough decisions lately, hope things will get easier. Amazingly well done on everything you have achieved so far, apartment abroad sounds lovely! Good luck!

The last few weeks haven't been good for our family won't go into any detail but it has made me question if I could have been a better parent. Its strange isn't it when you always blame yourself when your child ( doesn't matter how old they are) has a moment of madness and does something stupid. Regardless, you will always love them unconditionally.
No recent OP's but still continuing to save. Good news on BTL agent managed to rent it again after only 3 days on the market. DH's hard work has paid off. Tenants hoping to move in by the end of the month.
DH is now working his DIY magic on our home ready to put on the rental market when we return from holiday. Going to holiday home tomorrow for two weeks. Hoping for nice weather and a relaxing time with no dramas!!!!0 -
We have been back from our holiday now for over 2 weeks, had a lovely time spent time buying outdoor furniture for our new terrace. This was paid for by birthday money DH and I received from our Parents.
New Tenants have now moved in to BTL. We are hoping they are long term renters they have signed up for 12months initially which is reassuring.
DH has finished all the DIY in our family home that we wanted to do before we put it up for rent. Letting agent came yesterday to take photos and we are expecting it to be advertised from today. I think it will take a little longer to get a tenant then our other BTL because the target market is smaller due to house size (4 bed det) and the area we live in. Holding back from finding somewhere for us to rent until we know people are interested in our house, if that makes sense??
Filled in the consent to let forms for our mortgage company. They have indicated that they can't see any problems why this wouldn't be granted.
Decluttering has re commenced following a break. DH has targeted my underwear drawers!!!!!!!!!!
Decluttering will come to a halt again next week as we are going away to spend some time with DS2, he is having a tough time at the moment so I want be close by and give him more support. We have rented a cottage for a week near to him. my work is portable it's easy for me to work from anywhere which means I don't need to take any work holidays.
Enjoy the sunshine

Back from spending a week with DS. It was really nice spending time with him, even though he is a grown man I still want to wrap him up and cuddle him like I did when he was a baby! When we arrived he looked so sad and he looks like he has the whole world on his shoulders but I think having family time gave him the boost he needed. DS has never been good at expressing his feelings or opening up to me or DH, partly a boy thing, I think our visit was welcomed. Due to the career path he has chosen he left home at an earlier age and hasn't got a family circle close by which has been hard for him. He has friends but due to job type friends come and go quite regularly. Now DH is not working and my job allows me to work from anywhere we are planning to spend more time with him. This will be costly as we need to rent a holiday cottage or stay in a hotel each time we go but I don't care making sure DS is happy and OK means more to me than having extra money in the bank or a lower mortgage balance.
The bank has granted permission to let our house for 2 years, and the agent has found us a tenant. Don't know any more details as yet waiting for an email from the agent just had a message left on my phone while traveling home yesterday. Early days, credit checks etc need to be carried out but it's promising. Next week we will need to start seriously looking for somewhere to live.
Today we restart the Decluttering , camera at the ready , e@bay here we come!!!
Happy Sunday

Hi Popgirl! Sorry things are so tough for your DS at the moment - it must be very hard to see, as a parent. I hope it can even out in the long run, and he can find a way of making local friends - I never realised how important it was myself, to be honest.
Good news on renting out, though - and good luck with the decluttering via ebay2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thank you KC. I am following your diary not long now for retirement, exciting.0

It's been a very very busy 10 days. Our new tenants have passed all the checks and want to move in the 2nd weekend in June. After days of searching we have managed to find somewhere to live after having moments of total despair and thinking "what have we done!!!!!!!" I can't begin to tell you how grotty some places were that we saw to rent. Some landlords should be totally ashamed of the standard of houses/apartments they were asking a lot of money for. I couldn't sleep at night if our BTL's were at that standard.
So the packing has begun we have boxes and bubble wrap everywhere!!! DH is now best friends with the men who manage the local recycling centre because he has been there so much the last few days. We are moving from a 4 bed detached to a 2 bed apartment so we are having to be so ruthless about what we take with us. I have spent the last few days listing items for sale on various selling websites with mixed success. Made so far about £250 no where near Tilly's amount (if you follow her diary). We are finding people want to pay virtually nothing for good quality furniture. Sold a £1000 sofa for £50 and it was only 6months old and a double bed for £10.. Painful!
Off to pack another box!

We have moved, when people say "moving is one of the most stressful times" they are not kidding!! It doesn't feel like "home" just yet but we are getting there. The apartment is near a busy road so it is taking a while to adjust to the noise. We lived at the end of cul de sac previously with no passing traffic so it is different!
The major drama before we moved was the discovery of a leak in our family room resulting in walls and floors being knocked down, ripped up and replaced all in 48hours. The downstairs loo was the culprit. So lucky we found it before our tenants moved in and we are so grateful to our family and friends in the building trade who came to the rescue. The repairs were costly even at mate rates but it had to be done. Tenants moved in and were non the wiser!!!!
No financial update apart from we have spent a fortune recently, stock market decline is killing our investments and our EF is running on empty!!! It could be worse :-)
