squirrel pest....where to buy a solution??

Serious question so serious replys only please.

Want to remove grey squirrels from garden. Netting not an option. Dont want to do anything illegal or out down poison/pet repellent.

What are my options?
Squirrel trap?
Strong pellet gun to kill them.(one that is strong but not requiring a licence )

Dont want a wee pet. Want to make a permanent cure.

If anyone has a serious reply, plus where to buy solution. ...please help.

Can I ask why you want rid of them?

Loads live round here, no one bothers them and they bother no one. Well the odd cat catches one or two.

You shot with a pellet gun and don't kill outright, neighbour reports you. USPCA come out and prosecute you for cruelty.

Squirrels are not known to eat poison.

You could try contacting the council and getting advice from them.
  • Have read the law view on killing squirrels. Shooting is allowed. Just need to be killed outright....no cruelty. ...

And can you guarantee that with a pellet gun? I very much doubt it.

You can trap them easily enough. I know you can buy specific squirrel traps in America which you bait with peanut butter. They're probably available online.
Down south, they recently asked shooting enthusiasts to kill any grey squirrels they could - serious pest in young trees and orchards.

It'd take a .22 air gun to kill one, for which you need a licence. Hardly worth the fuss.

Nope, you only need a licence if its above 12ft lbs most standard spring or compressed air air rifles are below this so would need no licence and are more than capable of humanely killing a squirrel just make sure you have plenty of practice first so you are confident on your ability to kill it and also make sure you check out the laws regarding air gun use.

Absolutly i have used a standard .22 air rifle for years to control rabits, rats and squirrels, as long as the user is competent and it is done safely there is no issue with using an air gun for pest control

Are you in England, where the law on air guns is not as strict?

Just checked - you need a licence for a .177 airgun in NI. Definitely not worth it.

I have known people who do not like grey squirrels just because of their colour and want to get rid of them to encourage red squirrels. I think it all a bit strange to be honest.

It's because they are tree rats.
