Hard of Hearing, money off bill(s)??

Hi

My uncle just asked me to try and find out whether, as a person who is severely hard of hearing, he is entitled to money off any bills. A friend had mentioned something about it but he's forgotten the specifics. He's not good with computers at all, so thought I'd put my feelers out.

Does anyone know anything? or where I can begin to look? He's not on any benefits at all and works really hard. Thanks.

I can't think why he should.

Hi, no neither of us could think why he should, but he just asked me to check to be sure he's not missing something that he would be entitled to.

Is he just hard of hearing and not actually considered deaf?

Could get some help with hearing aids from the NHS. Maybe cheap replacement batteries.

It could be things that private companies offer - maybe he qualifies for a free carer ticket at the cinema or a rail card? Although they're usually tied to DLA/PIP as proof of disability, and I don't know what level of hearing loss would be needed. I only know of them from a disability perspective.

There might be other things depending on circumstances - for instance if he's a student he might qualify for disabled student's allowance, or if he works he might be entitled to help such as a textphone.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Thanks everyone. I think it's a no. At least I had a look for him, I've done a google search too and nothing comes up. He's disabled but not on DLA or anything because of the nature of the disability. He is deaf, not just hard of hearing, but he does ok. Thanks for the replies.

Nope. I've tried to get a lower cost on contracts like very low minutes due to the fact I won't use the call feature but no network would entertain it,

How bad is his hearing he may qualify for a disabled bus pass. I had to show audiohram but it depends on the council or transport authority for your area,

Perhaps you should make a claim for your cognitive impairment?
