in Cutting tax
I have been in the same job since June 2014 and i was on the correct tax code up until april this year when my tax code changed to 50l which allowed earnings of £500 before i was required to pay tax.
Im on a basic salary of 18k and i do earn uncapped comission aswell which varies each month.
I got the tax code changed anyway but they changed it to 906l which allows me to earn £9600. Everyone on my team seems to have a tax code of 1006l or similar allowing a tax free allowance of £10600 which i believe is correct.
Is there any reason why mines lower? am i missing something? i havent got or had a second job atall and as much as id like to speak to HMRC about it i work shifts and even on my half hour dinner cant get through to them?

if you owe no back tax
and you have no benefits in kind
then you ought to have a 10600 tax allowance i.e tax code 1060L
you should have received a notice of code change explaining why.
only HMRC can tell you
however you can query the taxcode online

Ring them first thing in the morning, they officially open at 8 but you may get your call answered from 7:45. And if you are going to start quoting tax codes to them, make sure the numbers are correct as you've made several errors in this thread (e.g. 1006L code that you mention should be 1060L).0 -
