Advice on Non FAult accident
Can anyone please advise me .
Yesterday a car ploughed into the back of my car while I waited at a roundabout , not only causing damage to the back of my vehicle but also the shock of being pushed into in coming traffic .
The other driver said that he would pay for the damage if I was to get the work done as he did not want it to affect his premium .
I decided to go through the insurance company when he refused to give me his full details as he said the damage was minor even though my bumper was hanging off and boot does not open.
I informed my insurance company once I got home who said to leave it to them to handle the claim .
Now I am being inundated with phone calls from claim advisers , garages and now the other parties insurance company all saying that they have my best interests at heart.
His insurance company called to say that they have accepted liability and that they will have my car repaired at their garage and cover any other costs as if I go through my insurer it will affect my future insurance premiums and no claims.
Not too sure the best option should I just leave it to my insurers and their claim advisers or through the other parties insurers as it will be quicker to get sorted .
Thanks

Go straight to his insurer, if he's accepted liability. Easiest, quickest, lowest risk, and greatest leverage in the event of a problem.
Whoever you go through, it'll have exactly the same effect on your future premium - your NCB will be unaffected, because he's accepted 100% liability, but you've been involved in a collision and claim, so you're seen as higher risk.0 -
If you use the third party insurer you won't have the hassle of having to pay and then pursue the third party for your excess.
Also there will be no reduction in your NCD pending reimbursement (which will happen if you use your own insurer)
You can insist on using your choice of repairer if you want
They will provide a replacement car if you need one0 -
Tell your insurance company that you will deal with the matter yourself.
Someinsurance companies up your premium, some don't.
It has happended to me 3 times and I have had no rise in premium.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Thanks for the advice , since I posted the message I have received another 3 messages from various companies concerning the
accident .
My concern is that I was in quite a serious accident around 5 years causing nerve and damage to 3 discs in my neck and yesterdays shunt seems to have had an impact on the inury.
I am self employed so have to cover myself as last time I lost 6 months of work with no help.0 -
As you look to have suffered injury then you need to get a specialist injury solicitor to advise and act for you.0
-
Yes, get a solicitor, avoid the claims management companies.. get a real professional0
-
Would the specialist solicitor handle the repair of my car aswell or can that be done direct with the third parties solictor ?
The advice is much appreciated as it taken alot of stress and worry of the last 24hrs .0 -
You could instruct a claim handler who would sort everything (arrange repairs/replacement car etc and pass you on to an associated specialist injury legal firm)
Or leave the repairs with the third party - and just get an injury solicitor to deal with that side.0 -
