Advice re CH1 form

Hi, not sure if this is the right board, but basically, I wondered when a married couple living together want to apply for health costs, if they have to fill in separate HC1 forms. (Or if both of them go on one...)

My sister is currently on a very low income and her husband is on a fairly low income, and they used to get free dental and free prescriptions, but now they earn just over the threshold to get it. However, they are still struggling financially and will really struggle to pay £220 for dental if it ends up being 'stage 3 dental charges.' So someone advised them to apply for help with health care by filling in an HC1 form,

She has filled in her form, and her husband has filled in his. They photocopied payslips for both from the last 8 weeks as requested, and they assumed they must have to send copies of each others payslips too (with their individual HC1 forms.)

However, someone just told her that they have to fill in a joint application - not individual ones.

This seems very strange as they had separate little plastic cards when they got their healthcare for free, so how come this has to be a joint application?

My sister is worried that she may end up getting just one certificate for help with health care costs, for just one of them (probably the one who is the head of the application?)

Surely they should fill in one each?

A stay-at-home parent doesn't get free dental/prescriptions if their partner is earning a decent wage. It is done on household income.

Sorry I think you answered someone else's post. Your response doesn't answer what I asked.

If this is the same form then it has to be filled in giving both their details on the same form - there's two separate columns for themselves and partner.

Does this mean they will get 2 separate certificates then (if they qualify for help?) Or one certificate with both names on it?

Sorry - I didn't realise you were worried about the number of certificates received (and I'm still not sure why) but you receive one with both household members named on it.

I was just meaning that there isn't a situation where one person in the household qualifies (on income) and the other doesn't. I thought that was why you were asking about the number of certificates!
