                    Hi.
I had a dishwasher wrongly installed and it caused a major leak in the house. Floorboards and carpet wet. I've been asked by the installation company to give them quote for the damage needing replacing. Who do I ask? The carpet / flooring company? I need to quote to get it professionaly dry too and it's urgent before he house gets damaged. What is the correct procedure to proceed.. thanks for help..

Notify your insurer and let them know what's happened. They have a responsibility to making good your house to an acceptable standard. They will then recover their losses from the third party.
If you get a quote the third party may pay for the repairs buy all liability for getting it done properly will lie with you. Any future claims or ongoing will be your responsibility.
If you go with you insurer, your premiums will go up but if they third party has accepted liability, there should be no excess to pay. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
