Good afternoon,
I would like some advice regarding a situation my husband and I have found ourselves in.
We have an old conservatory roof (polycarb), we contacted a company called Conservatory Roof Solutions to upgrade some of our panels, reclad the outside of the conservatory, fix some glazing. We met with the engineer/sales agent at our house, he spent a long time measuring and phoning colleagues to check pricing and finish etc. He then wrote an official quote for us, with an amount, we were happy with this and signed the quote.
He explained he would order the materials to start the job, and would be in touch in a couple of weeks. We didn't hear anything for about 3 weeks, so I started to chase, after a week of chasing, I had a phone call from the engineer/sales agent explaining that they had undercharged for the cost of the materials, and that they would let us know how much extra we would owe. Now as we have signed the quote- which is a legally binding contract (on the back it gives 7 days to cancel) , and they are not adding extra services to the job, I believe they are not able to alter the cost?
Does anyone have any advise regarding where we stand? ideally we'd like the work done asap, and don't want to pay any extra than originally agreed.
Thank you in advance for any help.

Just cancel and go elsewhere. If you ensure they stick to the quote they aren't going to do the job to their best. Just save yourself problems down the line and cancel.0

Do they have any of your money? If not, just cancel and move on."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

If you are still within your 7 days I'd do what has been suggested above - tell them no thanks and walk away. They may suddenly find they can do it for the quoted price. Otherwise check your contact to make sure there is no hidden clause in there.0

As OP chased the company 3 weeks after signing the quote then I very much doubt they're still in the 7 day cancellation window.
That said, as the company are seeking to vary the terms of the contract then OP is able to cancel the contract without penalty.0 -
I would turn it around and say for £100 kill fee you will release them from the contract by mutual consent.I do Contracts, all day every day.0

Another vote for cancelling out of the contract.
My folks were in a similar situation recently when purchasing some bi-fold patio doors. The company had quoted a lower price than they should have, but reluctantly agreed to honour the quote. As the panels were made to order, they were told about 8 weeks to make. After about 10 weeks the company were basically giving them the run-around, saying they weren't happy with the quality from manufacturing. About four weeks later my folks cancelled the contract as it was clear this company had no intentions of honouring the price.0 -
You don't want a company doing this work under sufferance. Cancel the contract.0
