Inactive account at Equifax

I'm hoping someone can give me some advice.

My credit rating at Equifax is currently pretty good (I've worked hard this past 12 months to boost my score, as hubbie and I are wanting to apply for a mortgage at some time in the next 6 months). One of the things I did to build a history was to open an account at Very, and I made a few payments for a purchase on their Take 3 option. However, this has now been paid off, I haven't ordered anything further with them, and the account on equinox was green free green, until just now, it has turned to 'inactive'. What I would love to know if whether this status is helping, or harming my credit file. Would it be best to leave it alone? Or would it be better to make another purchase or 2 with Very, just to getb the account going again, and thus flashing up as green at Equifax? And if this were the better option, would making new purchases show up at the credit bureau as a new credit agreement, or would it just 'activate' the currently inactive file? thanks for any and all help! x

A better way to demonstrate credit worthiness would be to get a credit card, use it regularly and pay if off in full each month.

It's easier and cheaper than messing about with overpriced catalogue goods.

Ignore the score Equifax give you - you need to build a solid and regular credit history.

In addition to zx81's helpful advice above I'd also ditch the Very account.

I assume you can log into your account online and there's a credit limit showing still? I can't imagine it'd conduct a credit search on your files; they'd simply report to all three credit agencies that you're using the account again, that's all.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

Good advice here. Very are well-known for trashing people's ability to get credit by inappropriate reporting to the CRAs. They are best left alone. Yes, close your account with them.
