Morning Campers,
Disturbed night & further drama due to Cat who had a massive fight (the screeching woke us up) with another local cat who he can't stand. I had to go outside semi-clad to make a grab for him & fetch him in. He had a big mouthful of the other cat's fur & a bleeding paw, which I am hoping will not turn into anything needing the vet.
So today's money saving bits & bobs:
*Watered veggie & fed toms, cukes, peppers, chillies, aubergines & courgettes. Got behind with this while I was poorly with flu, but they are catching up again now, as am I, thankfully.
*Cut lettuce from garden for tonight's salad.
*Defrosted more of the yummy broad bean pesto which I batch-cooked recently for tonight's dinner.
*Label all the preserves I made at the weekend - 24 jars - will use free pretty labels given to me by a crafter who didn't want them.
*Surveys.
*Entered a competition.
*Paid money for the bargain electric hedgecutters bought yesterday straight across onto credit card. (Used CC to augment M&S voucher points).
*Updated main budget & grocery budget.
*Make packed lunch & work snacks.
*Update filofax & calendar to keep myself very organised, which I always find is money saving in itself.
I have some local Labour Party & Council tasks to do today, too, so I think that will be it for my money saving.
xxxJoJoxxx Nice to see you back with your impressive lists.
Monday - New start to the week, let's really cane it with the money saving.
f x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (36/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg

Maria - Yes, we did report to police the minute we got home, but because we hadn't been able to take the driver's plate number, they didn't even take our name & contact details, though did log our call as a 'complaint'. The main concern of the person who took our call seemed to be that we had reported the incident to Notts police (where we live) instead of Lincs police (accident happened just across the border into Lincs) Do computer systems not link up? Thought that was a bit Jobsworth, frankly. There were witnesses, but I doubt anyone will phone it in & without our plate number, the link is unlikely to be made, anyway. The car in the fast lane would easily have been able to note Psycho's plate number. I am fully of the opinion that we will be able to do absolutely nothing about this. My only hope, for vengeance, is that he gets caught on one of the many speed cameras & that he already has so many points, he gets a ban. I'd love it if his insurance & tax was checked as well, as we suspected this might have been another reason why he sped away at 90+mph. Am angry about the injustice, but resigned to it now. I have filed him firmly under the category of Bast**d! It has made me determined that if I ever witness something similar, I will take plate numbers & phone it in to help the victim.

Hi
Just wanted to again say how sorry I am that you have had to experience this. I really feel for you.
Life can be such a pain at times.:mad:0 -
Foxy, that sounds very scary indeed but, after the news of that poor man in Worthing, maybe for the best you didn't catch the bar steward. Dangerous drivers make me so  , by all means if they want to kill themselves then fair enough but endangering the lives of others is unforgivable.
Hope the cloud is lifting Ally and DNMS(In Ally's case an afternoon off must have ben a much needed tonic!)
I've not caught up on yesterday's late posts but it sounds like good news on the plumbing front Bob!
Yesterday ended up being a no spend day and it felt gooooood! I must do more of them but today I bought lunch. I avoided the meal deal though and went for a basic tuna and cucumber sandwich (my favourite) and a multipack of crisps for less than the price of a meal deal.
Tonight I'm planning to hem the sitting room curtains that have been up for about 3months now :rotfl: The overlong look is okay if I artfully arrange them but nobody else does so mostly they look scruffy.
Dinner will probably be YS Thai red curry from the freezer.
I really need to come up with a super organised list of stuff I do every day that has become second nature like...
wearing my glasses for work instead of (disposable) lenses. With them in to correct my short sightedness I then need glasses over the top to read on the train and ditto for working on the computer. Since one optician visit where they said not enough oxygen was getting to my eyes I'd already started taking them out as soon as I got home so I worked out that I was actually wearing lenses for just one hour worth of vanity per day to look at the train times at the station!
I don't know if any of believe or are interested in astrology but I subscribe to a weekly email of a fantastic astrologer that is free (I don't believe in the 'you'll meet a dark stranger business but do feel the effects of retrograde mercury on communication matters etc) and the next few weeks look like a particularly tough time financially so hold onto those purse strings!

Hi all
Just checking in quickly, tea is nearly ready.
I cycled to work today (5 miles) and felt really good about it. Not sure I could do it every day but I aim to do it a couple of times a week while I dont have to do the school run.
Called in a Li*dl but it was sooo busy and I only picked up a few essentials.
Ziggy we are off on hols on Friday too. What a shame about the caravan. We have a folding camper and I wont part with it for anything, getting weekends away in it keeps me sane. Plus its the only holiday accommodation DS1 can cope with!!!
Right, tea, then dog walk and off to a committee meeting!0 -
Hi Everyone
Ally - Glad your day got better, an afternoon off sounds lovely.
Foxgloves - You are right about them being jobsworths. It really is the most frustrating situation. I only hope your garage bill is not too huge, or you can shop around for repairs as best you can. The manovere that guy tried to pull sounds idiotic at best. Hope your cat isnt going to turn into a real fighter.
Determined - Early start for you mrs. Joining in the early to bed club tonight?
Kayannie -I cannot imagine how anyone could take on a cafe management role on top of their day job. I find it so full on. But I will now know that you understand when I say this or that, as you only have to do it once to get the knowledge! Yes I do everything at the moment. Before we closed up due to the flood, I had 4 staff. 1 full time, 1 almost full time, & 2 weekenders. At one point I also had a chef. Now you are speaking to all of themhello.
Congratulations on the new addition to your family!
Ziggy - Oh no, why are you selling your caravan? I hope you really enjoy this coming break then. Devon is so lovely. Praying for sunshine for you all.
Jojo - Another excellent list
Hannah - Age does have a big part in these things doesnt it. I must say I am very interested to see how I find it all doing it again. I feel I've had quite high expectations of No 1, becauyse he has taken to everything so easily. But I do think I've maybe expected more than I should at different ages, now he does things so much better than he did at earlier stages, can so see why parents end up taking it easier on subsequent children. Good luck with your mission to keep active these holidays too.
Maria - Glad you had a lovely weekend, you deserve it.
FVD - Yum to red thai curry. Whats the latest on sons employment? Has he found anything local for the holidays?
Yorkshire - Good on you with the cycling.
Today was busy, a funny slow start then a proper lunch. Also took son to the library after wards so he could check in his first two reads of the summer holiday reading challenge. This years theme is Record Breakers. There was a very sweet work experience boy doing the job today, he must have been about 15. Took his time to ask all about the two books son had read, must be a real credit to his school.
Other small things
1. £5 PAD to business CC
2. Uploaded a reciept to Checkoutsmart to claim the 10p for bananas
3. Checked both sets of banking & paid half of my business energy bill. Will pay the other half by the end of the week.
4. Chased First Utility to find out why no bill. I think its very poor that they can take money from their customers on a set date every month but cant seem to get their act together to send a bill out in a timely manner. Apparently they loaded them up at the weekend. Mine is still not visible.
5. Hung a load out to dry in the garden. Found a weird bloody bone on the garden table, which must have been dropped by a bird or put there by a cat. Really grim.
6. Personal NSD
7. Cycled all journies
8. Used a £2.50 Nectar reward to pay for shopping for the business this morning, will add to wombling total
Think thats it today.
Have a good evening everyone.
Bob
P.S the plumbing saga is over thankfully, but the DW came on this morning, and then wouldnt run, so I am dispatching OH again this evening to go and have a look. Poor man. But if its coming on there must be hope!" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Morning all,
Its wet and grey this morning
Ally, thanks for the start, sorry to hear that you are feeling low.
Bob, ds2 will have to try much harder I think with his karate, saying that though, I'm not in a rush for him to get through his belts he started when he turned 6 whereas ds1 was nearly 8 I think, so more mature and able to take instruction better. My dad on the other hand is going to be moaning about his own result for a lonnnnnggggggggggggggggggg time to come!
