    The brake fluid has been topped up. That comment was more to emphasise the issues discovered with the car after having just bought it.

    OSF Coil Spring Broken - should be fixed by dealer.
    OSR Shock Absorber corroded excessively - doesnt matter how it looks. Its how its performing that matter.
    Heat shield at Tail Pipe insecure in 2 places and held together by gaffa tape. I'd have them have a look when they're doing the spring but its not terminal
    Tail Pipe Blowing and Mounting corroded and about to break off. Depends on whats blowing - the joint? Might just need tightened
    Brake fluid at minimum level - not really an issue - the brake fluid level will drop as the pads wear

    Probably the spring would be the biggie for me, but i'd have them look at the exhaust while they have it.

    Really though - get your uncle to look at your next car BEFORE you buy it.

    IMO they should fix the spring. They should never have sold it with a broken spring. Because of this, I think the law is also on your side.

    Some of the other issues wear and tear and non-issues... such as brake fluid, if above min then it's not even an issue. Although could indicate low pads somewhere, but necessarily something that requires attention. In fact it does my head in when people top up brake fluuid then a few months later come in for new pads because it means I have to extract the excess when pushing pistons back in :)

    Heat shields are a nightmare. Have them secure it with tie raps or something. I'd be happy with that.

    Shock, well if its secure and not leaking i'd be leaving it until it fails. It still may out live your ownership of the car. You'd be surprised how much rust is under some cars but are still structurally sound

    Why did he not just top the low brake fluid up?

    In this case I think its probable op bought the car with a broken spring. Likely just a bottom section to not so noticable in terms of ride height. So it's fair imo that the dealer sorts the spring out, although it should have been sorted before selling it

    Not sure what type of service you usually get, but it isn't as extensive as checking springs!
