Reimbursement problems

Options
I wasn't sure which forum to post this in, so apologies if this is the wrong one!

About a month ago, my daughter was driving her car, when a stone hit her rear passenger window and shattered it. This was caused by an employee of a landscape company who was strimming the grass verge. My daughter stopped and spoke to the person concerned (who was very new to the job) and his supervisor. The supervisor was very apologetic told my daughter to get the window repaired and send the bill to the company. She got the window repaired but when she phoned the company a few days later, they told her she should have claimed on her insurance. However, it was too late to do that because the car had already been repaired. She therefore sent the bill to the landscape company, and asked to be reimbursed. So far no money has been forthcoming, and every time she phones she is fobbed off and was recently told that the Director who needs to approve the payment was on holiday. My daughter waited until the day after he was due back and phoned again, but was just told the Accountant would pay it as soon as it was authorised. So far she has still not received any money.

Other than writing again, is there any other action we can take to get the company to reimburse my daughter?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Letter before action giving them say 14 days to pay and then small claims court.
Google 'template for letter before action' or some kind person might put one up on here for you.

No one seems to be defending so she will no doubt be awarded the costs of the repair and any other costs to do with bring the claim to court.

    Good luck to her...
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Hi McKneff, many thanks for your response, that's very helpful. I will let my daughter know.
