BT downgrade my broadband without my consent

When BT introduced charges for BT Sports for those who have their broadband, I complained since I'd just renewed my broadband contract with them to ensure that BT Sports remained free.

They offered to reduce my broadband costs by almost the same cost as the BT Sports, provided I extended my contract with them for a year (not sure why given I'd only extended it a couple of weeks ago).

When the order was being processed I noticed that instead of BT Infinity 2, I was now to have Infinity 1 which can be up to half the speed.

I complained and their response was that this was the only way they could cut my broadband costs . They'd not mentioned the downgrading of the service at all however (not over the phone or in any emails).

I've obviously complained since they're clearly in breach of contract, but I thought others might wish to note this pathetic money making scam.

Ask if you can cancel the contract without penalty as you didn't realize it was BT infinity 1 and either switch to another provider or back onto BT infinity 2.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Don't worry, I have already told them they're in breach of contract and must upgrade me immediately and provide compensation. Am awaiting a response, but am happy to pursue this matter relentlessly.
