Working Tax Credit Overpayment

I receive Working Tax Credits, I'm single and work over 30 hours a week. I filled in my renewal form a few weeks ago and sent it off and I haven't received any payments since May
Just had a letter from WTC which is kind of freaking me out. It says they're going to collect £83 from future awards and £670 is due to them now! Do I have to pay the £670 immediately?? How could they overpay me by so much? - I've kept them up to date with my circumstances.

No, it's not a notice to pay letter. My income was £13900 for 14/15. Not sure about 13/14.0

Sounds like your income for 13/14 was much lower and the award was based on that amount - your award letter would confirm that.My income was £13900 for 14/15. Not sure about 13/14.
If your actual income was not more than £5k more than the 13/14 amount then there should have been no overpayment for 14/15 but, as your 14/15 income would mean you no longer qualify for any WTC for 15/16 anything paid since April would be an overpayment0
