Virgin Trains QuietZone What is the point?

1. I'm actually nearly in agreement with you, and you haven't acknowledged that.
OK thanks for agreeing with me.
5. The comment "Probably the type who throw litter and put their feet on the seats." is just really bad. You are saying that to someone who is expressing concern towards the environment. How stupid is that? You'll back up OP for choosing to fly from London to Scotland instead of taking the train (which is more environmentally friendly), but you'll insult someone who shows some concern towards the environment?
That is bad form lad.
Trains give out CO2 as well, did you know that?
Showing concern for the environment includes not being a noise nuisance.
This thread is not about whether planes should fly or not.
Nobody can seriously propose that we ban aircraft. Good luck with that idea.0 -

A bit ignorant that you've ignored my first post, which provided a link which shows how much MORE a plane would give out vs a train per person.
Noise in a 'quiet zone' on a train isn't going to damage the environment.
It is when the OP "sticks to flying instead"
Nobody has proposed a ban on aircraft.0 -
I didn't realise my post was going to cause so much debate, if I choose to fly next time it is not relevant, if someone wants to get on their soap box about the environment find another thread, that is not the issue, I would have complained on the journey if I could actually find someone to complain to, I didn't expect absolute silence, there are signs up indicating that mobile phones shouldn't be used and passengers shouldn't make any unnecessary noise, I am okay with devices if people just wear headphones at a sensible volume, I paid for a service I didn't get and it is not my responsibility to police carriages, that is why they employ staff, ignorant people are not likely to pay heed to any complaint I make about their conduct, but it is a good way for me to get a smack in the mouth.0

So you're happy for the conductor to get a smack in the mouth?0 -

Train staff are in a better position to deal with it than me, if they feel that passengers pose a threat they can arrange for the Transport Police to board the train at the next stop, generally staff making a request carrys more weight and stands a better chance of being observed than a passenger asking, perhaps you would like me to clean the trains toilets as well rather than staff have to contend with the smell.0 -

I've made my points regarding the environment which stemmed from a comment you made, and you have been ignorant of those points. I cannot physically do any more than that.
And as a side note, I'm in agreement with you for the most part about the 'quiet zone' issue. Just some niggly bits which could be cleared up, but otherwise a fairly legitimate complaint all in all (but not strictly entitling you to compensation imo)0 -
North_Of_Utopia wrote: »I made no mention of the environmental impact, but that didn't stop you raising the issue and going off topic, you had an agenda and you used my post to further it, I made no mention of seeking compensation either, I just asked why offer a service if they aren't actually willing to deliver it.
And since you opened up the door on this one I would like to take the opportunity to call you a moron for being unable to stay on topic.
In the context of being annoyed about noise in a quiet zone, you said:I am going to stick to flying at least I don't have to put up with inconsiderate people for too long.
If you choose to "stick to flying" over using a 'noisy' train then you are ignoring the impact your actions have on the environment. I merely called you out on that.
The fact that you "made no mention of the environmental impact" in the first place just makes it even clearer how ignorant you are being!
Oh, and I'm using the word "ignorant" deliberately. I wouldn't call you a "moron", so please don't call other posters one. You are ignorant of the implications of "sticking to flying" for such a short journey.
At the end of the day you (and many others) don't care and will continue to "stick to flying" despite better alternatives being available. That is the way of the world, sadly.0 -
If you are so concerned about the environment then perhaps you could save some electricity by switching off your computer permanently, and spare the rest of us your irrelevant posts.0

And you likewise0 -
So you're happy for the conductor to get a smack in the mouth?
So you are happy for anyone who wants to to ignore rules and regulations put in place for the benefit of everyone, in case someone gets violent?
It sounds as if your philosophy is one where the bullies always get their own way. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0
