adobe reader/acrobat manager

My firewall (Zonealarm) tells me constantly that "adobe reader & acrobat manager is trying to launch C:\programme files\adobe\reader\11.0\reader\reader_sl.exe to gain access topriviledged resources."

This has only recently started happening.

Now I have no problem with using Adobe, but am trying to limit the number of programmes running other than when I need them.

I've checked my 'start up' programes and Adobe is not one of them. I've also opened A Reader and set the updater to manual updates.

So why is Reader constantly trying to do... whatever it is it's trying to do?

It improves Adobe Reader start up times but it's not essential and you can stop it by removing the Registry entry in HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run.

where would I find it?

As you do not know where to look I suggest you forget about it. You might do more harm than good entering registry and trying to navigate to that location.
