Working tax credit and apprenticeship

Hello everyone
I am 29 and unemployed (for a year now) and I am thinking about doing an apprenticeship, even though I know it will be hard due to my age. What I have an eye on is a 1 year apprenticeship that pays £150 pw (not training allowance), doing 8-5 5 days a week.
1. Will I be able to claim working tax credits if on this apprenticeship?
2. Last week I got my letter from them (the entitlement for this year), and it said I will only get £1037.70. After, I used the .gov online calculator just to do a rough check, and the figures were the same and it gave me an estimate of £2076. The difference is big. Would I only get what was in the letter?
I will only be able to do an apprenticeship of this wage if I could be working tax credits, because it will mean moving out of the family home and moving away

If you are currently unemployed, how do you have a current WTC claim? Or do you have children and are also claiming CTC?
I don't know how it works, but I have claimed for the past 2 or 3 years (but last year until July I didn't get any because of what I earned previously), and then notified them last year when I stopped working. Just want to point out they aren't paying me now, due to me not working, but the calculation letter thingy said it was based on a 39 hour week. All my details were correct on the letter.
Just find it strange that the letter and the online calculator has such a big difference0 -

They know/did know that I am not in work. I have the letter they sent me confirming the change last year.
I have just looked at this entitlement letter a recently got and looked again, and yes, it is for this year0 -
