I've never one til the old banger I recently bought. It seemed to work on test drive I did but because I didn't know (til now) how to attach it ...when I did figure it out it doesn't seem to work. ..think I pushed it in too hard the first few attempts (though there seems to be no visible damage)
It's a Sony and if I get another cheap Sony one would there need to be any wiring done or do I attach it straight to the fascia and it'll work?
It's a standard cd radio (but with usb port unlike the current one I have)
Thanks

If your looking at replacing just the fascia(the part that come off the front for security) then it will almost certainly have to be the exact model as the old one.
If your looking at replacing the whole stereo, they use a ISO wiring standard so the cable will unplug out the back and go into the new one.0 -
Yes just the fascia
So a cheap Sony replaced with another won't work? The contacts won't align?
I'm annoyed at having to get another really.
But if as you say I need the exact model then I may just look at this getting repaired? (It seems to work when ignition is on - when I say work I mean it back lights up and I can hear a fuzzy sound from the speakers but there is nothing on the display and tuning the knob doesn't really do anything)0 -
It's unlikely to be worth repairing and I don't know anyone who does that. Usually better to just buy another one.
Take a look on eBay and see if anyone is selling the faceplate, but it's unlikely.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
