Does Contractors Paint Dry Patchy Or Am I Crap At Painting

I've noticed looking down a wall in a room i painted that has the door off at the moment that it has a patchy look to it.

But when you look at it head on you don't see the patches.

It is slightly annoying to me but as it is an ex council property that will go on the market soon it's not the be all and end all.

Painting tips welcome, i am able to keep in the lines which automatically makes me better than 99% of people, just need to fine tune my knowledge :D

Sounds like roller marks, not that the paint is to blame but what brand is it you're using ?

When did you paint it, and what was underneath?

I recently painted a room in our house. Wallpaper had been stripped back to bare plaster and some areas filled. I had given the plaster a mist coat and one coat of white contractor's emulsion, then three coats of the final colour. With every coat, the paint looked patchy for many hours as the areas where the filler had been used seemed to just react differently to the paint. Once it dried fully though, it looked fine from every angle.

I think it was leyland the 20 quid one

I was painting onto walls that has already been skimmed and painted ages ago. I gave the wall a bit of a sand and painted it. Gave it a couple of coats.

I applied plenty, as i say, from the front it doesn't look patchy but when you look down it it does.

I think i was maybe using a cheapish roller too.

I don't seem to have much luck with painting.
