Washing machine belt

Hi, after a bit of help please with our washing machine. The drum stopped spinning so I took the back panel off and the belt had come off. I put the belt back on but it doesnt seem to align properly as per below...

The belt doesn't sit in the groove on the back of the drum because the Spinny bit on the motor is too far in if that makes sense? Everything seems tightened up etc so I don't really know if this is how its supposed to be. Obviously if I seat the belt in the notches on the back of the drum and turn it the belt will just slip back right to the edge of the plastic wheel.

That's definitely not how it should sit. Its possible that either the drive wheel for the drum has moved out of line or the motor spindle has moved out of line. Does the motor spindle pull out at all?
There is a possibility that the drum bearings have failed so that the drum is now sitting at its lowest point at the front. If this is the case try lifting the drum with your hands from inside. If the bearings are OK then the drum should bounce in and out on springs and no up down movement. If it moves up and you let it go it thumps back down then its time for a new machine.0 -

I will double check. I'm away from home at the moment but nothing seemed to be loose at all when I looked at it. I didn't look to see whether the spindle came out any further. Its an indesit if that makes any difference.0
