This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning all,
Raining here and meant to be like this till after lunch time, off to work for me and the rain generally means its going to be a quiet one.
The local festival is in full swing with music playing all hours, hoards of people wandering around looking a bit lost, rubbish is being dropped wherever they feel and cars double parked everywhere, why they chose to do it in such a rural areal I don't know ! I suppose its for the space, there will be complaints I know that, the local people are up in arms !
OH in charge of domestics today, he can do an online shop and cook dinner, tonight its burger in a bun with wedges and salad.
Right better get on, have good days all xx

Good Morning everyone, woke up at 3 this morning and got up at 5 as I just couldn't lie there any longer. I've just seen He Who Knows and DD1 off to the airport for their week in Norway and am having a cuppa before sorting out the house. I hope they have a great time, they've been before but in the winter and cruising, this time they're travelling on the railways and exploring inland their itinerary sounds exhausting but interesting. I'm off to DD2 tomorrow early to Zebra sit as his dad is away at a conference and mum works so I will be back home on Thursday afternoon if all goes according to plan. Other than a top to toe house clean and tidy nothing much planned for today and food will be whatever needs using up in the fridge. Very early start tomorrow as I have to get the 7.40 bus to the station in order to get the 8.50 train so I'll be awol for a few days. Look after yourselves, Lyn xxx..0

Good morning all,
Thank you RR for starting us off today.
It has been raining here as well, but no washing to speak of, I did 2 loads yesterday and all now dried, ironed and out away.
Himself will put the Dyson around upstairs later, but DGD went out last night so not expecting to see her for some time. She did her own room yesterday and I have a bag to take to the Hospice Shop after she had a good sort out.
Nothing in particular planned, will just see how the day developes.
Lyn enjoy your time at DDs and with the Zebra child, when he isn't at nursery and look forward to seeing you back later in the week.
Have a good day all

Morning one and all. Pretty miserable start here with the overnight rain lingering. Supposed to fare up later.
We are still planning on going over to the caravan later, till probably Thursday. The 5 day forecast seems to be for light cloud but very little rain. A bit of sun would be appreciated too. Not given a thought to packing any clothes up yet, nor what we are taking to eat! I left a casserole in the sc overnight and will shortly pop in a few dumplings. That can go with us, plus anything in the fridge that needs eating up and an assortment of frozen items in case we don't eat out.
I feel very disorganised after the upset of the last couple of days plus the 3 DGDs sleeping over has added to the chaos. The youngest (4) is up with strict instructions not to wake the other two up! They should be going home around lunchtime, giving me chance to tidy up and pack some clothes and supplies and then off we go. A few days rest and relaxation is very much needed.
Have a good Sunday all. ((((((HUGS)))))) if you need them and take care whatever you are up to. Hope you are getting better weather than us as it's turned really dark and the rain has set off again xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good Morning all
TA I hope you have a relaxing few days at the caravan
Weather here is sunny just had rain overnight DH said he would treat me to lunch at the garden centre as we need a few bits .
Havent felt like posting the last couple of days think it all caught up with me I have now resigned from my job so need to pull those purse strings I did something for DS which i should have got written consent for but only got verbal and someone felt the need to say something to the manager rather than to me and it has ended up like this to be fair i knew what i was doing but i never thought i would be stabbed in the back like that still its all done now and i will be given a good reference and the manager can look for her next target as i wont be there to protect them My friends all say how much better i look and they are pleased to see me smiling again I havent been happy for a long time so maybe its the push i need
Right onwards and upwards
Have a good day0 -
Morning All
Fairly bright here after torrential rain last night. Not bad during the day yesterday, I got 4 loads of washing dried outside. One load on the line today, I'll hope for the best!
tired mum - What's happened has happened, glad you're feeling better now and you can move on.
TA - Enjoy your days at the caravan.
Have a good few days Mrs LW.
DD has a day off today so we are going to the shopping centre near to where she had bought her flat. Going to have a good look round to see what's there, may get brunch on the way!
Not much else, going to a friends for dinner so a nice easy day. Enjoy Sunday. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
Another dull start to the day.
Yesterday I managed to get a small wash out and dried, though no sun just plenty of wind.
I got up to Oban to buy a new replacement bird feeding station and collected a power drill and box of bits. Feeding station is up, it's a bit short for my liking. I'll look at the power drill this morning, tried to open the box of bits and can't. There must be a trick to it.
I was given a big piece of venison yesterday which I will cook today. The best way, I was instructed, is seal it and then cook very slowly for about five hours so will have a go. Venison can be dry but this piece has the bone still in.
Yesterday afternoon I attacked the patches of high rough grass around a couple of garden features and began clearing the area where I'd had two huge bushes cut down. All the branches were already gone so it was just the debris of small sticks and vegetation.
MrsLW - hope you enjoy your time with Zebra.
TA - and I really hope you both get some rest and peace.
Tired Mum - sorry to read about your work problems though the change in your outlook is great. When pressures get too much, for whatever reason, walking away can be the best thing.
I hope everyone has a good day. My porridge has pinged so I'm off to have that.0 -
Morning all
Sunny here today 'll be hanging some washing out soon.
Hugs To Mr & Mrs TA, TM, sorry to hear how you've been treated.
Yesterday was a bit tiring as hubby & I went to DD's to look after the twins & DGS9, they were all very good, but one of DGS's friends was thoroughly obnoxious hubby & I both had to tell him off.
So a lazy day ahead for us
Have a good day everyone.

Morning :hello:
Mrs LW I'm glad your daughter's OK x
TravellingAbuela I hope you have a relaxing break x
tired mum I'm glad you're feeling happier x

Yesterday went well til two girls ran past us screaming, they were only playing but it scared Scampi so he kicked off. We moved away but he barked at everything that moved after that. So I headed for the quiet side roads, it made no difference though, he didn't calm down til we were back in the house. Kids are off for the summer now, I'm going to take him for walks early when it's quieter then gradually move back to our normal time (I'm assuming kids will be out playing by that time), so he can get used to them slowly. We WILL have a confident dog – eventually
We were told it could take a good six months for him to feel settled, if I take them at their word I will have a perfect dog on 20th September :rotfl: Plus he's a year old in August so that should make a difference too. Does it? I can't help thinking people are lying to me
I feel like talking to everyone when we're out, and asking if I can use their child/pushbike/wheelchair etc. to practice on, lol
I still can't find a pattern for those shirts, so I'm going to try putting them on inside out then pinning the material while I'm wearing them
Not sure about the collars, I'll see if I can make them smaller, if not I'll remove them. They will not defeat me

I ended up getting loads done yesterday so today will be easy. I'll put a wash on in a mo, it looks like it's going to be a nice day so it should dry quickly. Apart from that, I'll be having a lazy day

Morning, we had rain through the night, so the plants we put in will have been well watered. It's coming over a bit grey so guess we are in for more rain.
I did not sleep too well, so a lie in with breakfast in bed. No plans for the day, just to relax, just need to prep supper.0 -
Tru, if you take off the top half of the collar and leave the bottom half you will have what used to be called a grandad collar. I know they will be too big for your neck but they should look neater & less obviously big.
I've posted pics of my c2c blanket on my blog, it's now wrapped in tissue paper & ready to be given to the expectant mum tomorrow.
