Tax repayment into bank, how long did you wait?

My husband got a letter today, he applied for a tax repayment due to having a uniform for work. Anyway we got a form to say he was due a repayment and it would be in the bank in a few days, it was issued on the 9th of July.

We are still waiting, how long did you wait?
I was wondering what they mean by a few days I mean the letter has taken a week to get here for example.

I have only ever had a cheque before but he give bank details which we were told would be quicker.

Are you sure it was hmrc I diden't think they would ask for bank details over the phone.

They didn't ask for bank details over the phone?

He downloaded a form from the website, filled it in and sent it off. A letter was sent to his work with the breakdown thing issued on the 9th and says it will pay into his bank in a few days. It didn't ask for bank details said it would pay into the bank he provided.
