Halifax lost my money

Hi all. Some advice needed please. I paid my self employed tax bill at my local Halifax branch over the counter with cash. The cashier scanned the bar code on the bill, took the money and stamped it 'paid' on the day. A little while after I started receiving letters from a DCA on behalf of HMRC chasing me for the payment…

Well, after emailing CEO I finally got the money- they refunded the lot and a goodwill gesture of £75.00 to my current account. The branch manager and area director will get feedback. I was hoping for a slightly higher goodwill gesture offer, but just relieved I got the money back so can get HMRC off my back.

The bottom line- write to the CEO office if you want things sorted ASAP.
