Yes it says " Final tax credits decision " which seems mad as on the same day they wrote to me asking for any evidence to prove my lower figure like charity gifts etc as my figure did not match RTI figure ( obviously). They sent the " final " without even waiting for my reply !

Are you sure the RTI figure refers to the redundancy payment as these are generally tax free up to thirty thousand (although there are exceptions)?
You'd think the RTI folk would 'inhibit' the processing of your renewal until your response had been received but then again they can always update that afterwards as required and they could still override the adviser's decision to change the income. If they do that, you can send in MR request as a response to that decision.
Changes to renewal income can be made up to 31st July (and often for a few days after that as well) but you wouldn't expect the many newbies that have been taken on recently to know that (not part of the training and that's something you can only learn through experience).

I now believe you when you said earlier you have never worked there as you would surely know it is anything but 'idiot-proof'. In addition, it's the worst thing HMRC ever introduced as it removed the concept of free will from advisers' options.

There are many ways to manipulate the system (for the benefit of customers (jargon, sorry)) but following bloody guidance does not allow you to do much to help those suffering from petty and vindictive rules.

Yeah its the bit above the £30k exemption.

I decided to preserve my position and send off the MR by my friend - if they correct the figures in the meantime all well and good but I dont want to loose the right to Tribunal appeal by failing to lodge MR within 30 day rule!

Had the tax credit renewal had a working sheet for losses to be actually entered against RTI figures all this would be unecessary !

My suggestion for future is to call in those circumstances. That way you can explain it to the adviser and they can update the system to show they have agreed with your figures.

I did - twice ! At the start of the claim and then on the day I submitted my online assessment to HMRC and gave exact figures - but still the query - hence the MR form - just in case ! Lol

I meant to complete the actual renewal, you said you done that online.

Yeah paper review and covering letter would have been best :)
