                    Hello
Hope someone can I help!
I recently moved out from my old flat and my supplier was OVO, the move out coincided with my contract with them ending, so I made my final DD payment and thought that was that, they have now sent me a bill for over £400.
My average use is around 700kw a month
The only thing I can think of is its a yearly plan and they are trying to bill me for the remainder of the year
Thanks

Did you give them a final meter reading?
Did you have any credit or deficit on your account at the time you moved out?0

Hi. It doesn't work that way. You only pay for the energy that you use and at the agreed contract rates.
You need to look back to your first bill and note the meter reading that you gave when you switched to Ovo. You then need to check that the closing meter reading is accurate. It's simple maths to work out how much energy you have consumed during the time you were with Ovo, and calculate a total cost. The amount that you owe £400 should be Total Cost minus the DDs that you have paid. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks everyone, I couldnt get a final meter reading, the meters were In a locked communal area and there was an issue with the door, the letting agent said they would forward a final reading to me, but they haven't yet
I'll try and get one of the recent meter readings and see what the starting meter reading was0

Just be sure that you know what it's for and agree that you owe it before paying. When I moved house Ovo sent me the next occupants' bill in error. I called them and said I no longer lived there and they apologised etc. It was a stupid error but if I hadn't checked it properly I might have just paid it.0

Without access to your meter, how did you calculate your monthly average usage? Have you asked the letting agent to make good on their promise to forward the final reading?MonkeyMan1969 wrote: »I couldnt get a final meter reading, the meters were In a locked communal area and there was an issue with the door, the letting agent said they would forward a final reading to me, but they haven't yetmad mocs - the pavement worrier0
