We have been recommended that we apply for a DFG by an occupational therapist. Does anyone have any guidelines as to how much savings and income you can have to qualify or not as the case may be. We have an income of around £370 a week and savings of around 50000.00.

A quick google reveals any savings over £6000 in England will be taken into account - https://www.gov.uk/disabled-facilities-grants/what-youll-get for further information under section 2 - what you'll get.
Seems like the Local Authority (council) will deem eligibility based on savings, give them a call on Monday.0 -
With savings like that i'd consider whether (assuming you qualify) going through the application process is worth it.
My grandparents had 2-3 years of hassle before their wet room was installed- then the HA tore up the social workers recommendations and cut corners everywhere which caused no end of trouble.
If any of us had had the money we would have much preferred going that route!0
