Hello,
I took out a loan with the Student Loans Company when I started University back in 2001. Since graduating in 2004 I have been in continuous employment but have never met the threshold to make any repayments. In May this year my circumstances changed and I left employment to look after my two year old daughter.
Yesterday I received a letter from SLC informing me that HMRC had passed on that I was no longer employed and asking for evidence of how I support myself financially. Since I am married, my funds come from my husband's salary and I do not receive any benefits. However, the form I am to complete has me confused, as it asks for evidence of how I am supported by a 'third party' and how much I receive on a weekly, monthly or yearly basis. I feel I'm unable to answer since I'm not technically given a set amount of money to live on - my husband's wages go into our joint account and we pay for all outgoings as and when they arise.
Has anyone come across this before and have advice for how best to proceed?
Thanks in advance,
Helen .
