Hi - trying to do DIY and connection this telephone extension (was a sealed unit) to this socket - the extension is already relayed through the attic but I had to make a room change via a small hole in the wall, thus why ive cut the extension - both pics show what im trying to connect - thanks for the help

    It's normally :

    3 blue
    4 green

can't remember which way round red and white go. into 2 & 5

    Red to 2 I think.

However that's a socket for broadband. And I'm not sure what you are doing.

Red and white may go to A & B

Only 2 and 5 are needed. You need to go and look at the start or end of the cable and see how they are connected.

Be aware that a phone extension may knock your broadband speed down.

    4 is not used anyway.

You need to explain more what you are try to achieve.

You could try connecting Red to A
    and white to B.

assuming you trying to put your BroadBand hub in the loft ?

Thanks everyone for the advice - I'm a bit lost now though

    2 3 5 are quite a distance away from A G B

do I just connect Red to A and White to B?

    Yes

EDIT: A bit of research on the net says they should be the other way round, so you may need to try both
