In a quandary about sick notes.

DWP informed me this week that sick (fit ) notes now take 9 to 10 working days to reach them by post. This virtually makes it two weeks. At the same time the doctor's surgery says sick notes cannot be pre-dated , nor can they be overlapping. What are we supposed to do now? Issued say on the day the previous one finishes it will then take 2 weeks to reach DWP, who will then start sending letters saying no sick note received ,so no money.Anyone have a solution??

Some doctors will issue a sick note in advance but others like yours won't.
It might be worth speaking to the practice manager to see if they could help.
In the event that this is refused the best I can suggest is that you get the fit note and have it faxed by Job Centre Plus (you will need an appointment and keep a copy) This should then reach them on the same day.
There used to be a 'grace period' and there used to be a reminder of when the fit note was due to expire but it seems that these may not be happening in some areas now.0 -
I always send mine by registered post - I know it costs £6.50 but then I have proof that I have sent it and it arrives the next day.Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0

lol that's abit expensive.
You'd be cheaper going to JCP and getting them to scan it into the system so they can send to ESA, Just put you're phone number on the sick note and they will call to say thay have it0 -
There has been talk of scrapping the need to make an appointment to take sick notes in to the Job Centre but I don't know if that has been implemented. Cheapest way certainly is to ring to make an appointment and then take it to the JC.0
