Re-doing a Kitchen, by fitting new drawers and doors

Hello all,

following on from my 'Granite worktops' thread, was wodering if anyone had done the above, and if they had any recommendations for specific retailers, and or websites?

I've found a good few online, but some personal experience would be priceless!

I guess everything, delivery time, quality of the product etc would be good.

Many thanks in advance

Dan

I did this myself a couple of years ago and used B&Q door and drawer fronts, and handles (when they had a 50% off sale on). Just make sure that the holes where the brackets go are in the same place! They were for me so the job was easy peasy but for my Mum they were not, so she was stuck with all these doors and she had to pay for a joiner to come and do the job.

I was in B&Q the other day (less than a week ago) and they had door fronts half price. May be worth checking if the offer is still on. Haven't done it myself, but when I saw the prices it was very tempting. The offer they had was on the high gloss finished white doors. I think they were from about £10 each for a door front.

My mum used a firm called Dream Doors they are a national franchise... she had an old, dated Magnet kitchen (so good quality carcasses) in orangey pine and had the kitchen rejigged using as many of her old cupboards as possible.... they did new worktops and sink, new eye-level oven and built in hob. She has now got lovely birch effect doors. It was about £4000 but a new kitchen would have been twice that.
Like I say they are a franchise, www.dreamdoorsltd.co.uk
she used the Lincoln branch and they were excellent.

the quality of the doors is as good as I've seen anywhere, and they seem to do worktops that are a bit out of the ordinary, ie not everyone will have the same one...

She is over the moon with it. They do plumbing and electrics and all sorts but she got her own tiler and decorator.

I am going to use them to change my worktops as I am painting my old pine units as there is nothing wrong with them.

We replaced doors and drawer fronts on our B & Q kitchen a couple of years ago and it was not all plain sailing! The drawer front's fixings had been changed, so we had to buy entire new drawers - then discovered the runners had altered as well. Luckily OH is very handy at all things DIY, and he managed to fix them.
Also, we have found that the high-gloss laminate bubbles and peels when it's near a heat source. This is evident next to the oven door and on the wall units over our combination microwave.

have a look at this site, http://doors.homestylekitchens.co.uk/ havnt used them but may do in the next few weeks or so, they appear to sell the same range of doors as www.dreamdoorsltd.co.uk , (see here http://www.doors.homestylekitchens.co.uk/lincoln.html and here http://www.dreamdoorsltd.co.uk/kitchenpop.php?id=7 ) looked at the doors in dreamdoors today and they looked pretty good and well made, not sure about the price difference but homestlyekitchens look pretty cheap
