144 apr
Hello,
Sold my vehicle nearly a year ago and have recieved a 144apr for no insurance.
I didnt send off the vc5 form as I didnt have it at hand. Forgot about ringing DVLA due to every day to day life problems and the fact I throw things under the rug alot
How can I appeal this as Im sure Im not the only one who is forgetful.

hmmm, doesnt the current owner worry about not having the log book?
how does he tax it then?
sorry it sounds a bit far fetched.....GC Jan £431.490/£480.00  £48.51 under budget!0 -
Forgetfulness is not a defense.
Can you prove when you sold the car? i.e. do you at least have a signed receipt? If you do, they may accept that and let you off but its not guaranteed.
Lesson for the future...send the log book off!
Interesting side note...at least you cancelled the insurance - if you hadn't done that and the new owner had an accident your insurance company would be liable!0 -

excuse me? not sending the V5 back after a year.... no insurance..... maybe its just me but sounds like a good way of trying to get out of no insurance. you get the letter.... and say "oh, i sold that car a year ago but actually forgot to send V5 back and claim back tax etc".....GC Jan £431.490/£480.00  £48.51 under budget!0 -

Tax it, why would the current owner need to bother taxing it?
Any penalty for no tax (as well as any NIP's for speeding, parking fines, non payment of congestion charges or bridge tolls etc) will automatically get sent to the OP.0 -
<sigh> OP... It's not about "being forgetful". It's about avoiding your legal requirements as the registered keeper of a vehicle.
Until such time as you send that V5C back, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for the vehicle, legally.0 -

Doh, I was on about the OP:rotfl:0 -
Didnt mean to come across as a fantasist or a teenybop.
If I was going to make something up I think I could come up with something better than this knowing that paranoid people were online, I think I;d give it more of a bafta.
thanks for your help anyways.0 -
You didn't op, it's just a number of members around here are paranoid and assume every post is a windup0
