in Credit cards
My current situation with CC;s is i have two that have had for 3-4years with the BOS. Both have had no balance for 6months(though i have been slow in making payments in the past).
...Anyway, the APR on them in high, want rid of them, but want a new one/'s as i will need to use them, or at least have the option to over the course of the next 14months when i am travelling.
...Dont know what i should do, i have been told to cancel the ones i have now(the APR is high) & apply for a new one when i am over their(as the first year is when you get good rates with them) just before the time i reckon i will need to use it(when funds are low), though my concern is ill get denied then as my earnings will have been £0 for a while or very little from casual work in Oz, where as now my earning are ok.
Hope theirs somebody here that can give me good clear advice, its a worry, and i leave in 11days so need to get on the 'applying' tomorrow if i am going for it.
.............Thanks very much...................

11 Days!!
You have left it too late as any card takes between 10 days and a month along with pin codes and online access etc.
Okay so your still in need of a card apply for one,and get your parents to forward it onto you separately from the pin obviously.
Nationwide and the Post office cards are supposed to be the best for overseas purchases as their transfer rates back to Sterling are lower than all the other cards.
What do you want from the card?
To be accepted everwhere would be a priority?
Visa Barclaycard?
A card with 0% on purchases for as long a period as possible?
http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/products/apply/simplicity.html
have a look at this 6.8% interest(okay it isn't0%) but it is on all purchases and there is no introductory offer period. There is fraud protection ,card replacement ,overseas travel offers etc.
If you pay your spending off in full each month there there will be no interest charges except the oz $ to £ Sterling conversion.I think that is right but I would be interested to hear what others have used in Auz as we are planning a trip for next year.Previously known as Bokken, registered at MSE in Nov 04,computer glich deleted my access but it is fun building up my stars from scratch,again.:D0 -
Thanks,
I think applying now is sensibile, as i have a wage coming in which will help my chances of being accepted, & secondaly, if im going to need it anyway, it will be good having one with low APR.
...So what cards for me guys?? Post office, Barclays or other????0 -
