Were you eligible to apply for the account with a DRO Debt Relief Order running?

Seems they failed to spot this in their credit check and you failed to mention it in your application?

£40 seems reasonable compensation and the £150 was never yours!

I wonder if YB should take responsibility for switching the DDs etc to the basic account though as their guarantee says they do it all for you.

All sounds like a frustrating mess but I'm not sure who is to blame six of one half a dozen of the other.

    Best of luck sorting it.

I did mention it in my application
are you certain about this? Have you got proof for it?

I am more frustrated by the fact I had 2 current accounts and have now they have closed them for a their most basic account.
why did you switch 2 accounts when all you needed was to switch 1?

I think it's took quite a long time for them to notice this as well 36 days from them doing their online checks.
it might have taken 36 days but accounts can be closed at any time. Check the T&Cs.

The problem is now there is no new account or £40 compensation, my old account is in fact still active.
ah right, so you did not switch 2 accounts, after all?

I have to call every person that pays money in to my account in the next 2 weeks to get them to change it to this cash account
You could have asked the bank to do the switch to the basic account. But just how many persons pay money into your account? Surely it doesn't take long to tell people what your new sort code and account number is. You don't mention switching DDs and SOs, don't you have any of these?

to my shock neither my new account or my £40 exists
Crediting a goodwill payment can take a day or two. But why did you leave the bank without at least knowing the sort code and account number of your basic account?
