Starting a business

Hello just looking for some advice, my wife is looking to setup her own business, she is looking to braid hair, although not looking to make a fortune, or probably any money at all, we are wondering how you create a business from a tax point of view, who do we register with, what costs are involved etc. Ive been on the gov.uk website, but not 100% sure what we are doing, any advice gratefully accepted

If you are not making money, then you do not have a business, so what is the point.
Right, that is the bad news, so here is some advice.
See if you have any local busininess schemes in your area, which help people start their own businesses. A local chamber of commerce may exist as it does in my area.
Starting a business is pretty scary, and enthusiasm can be overtaken by fear once you realise what is involved, so you need expert advice - which I cannot give, except maybe repeat parrot fashion what I was told.
