Amazon doubled my Prime trial because of Collect Plus

I signed up for 30 days Amazon Prime trial because of the Prime Day yesterday. Plus there are a couple of movies on their instant video service which I wanted to see.

Placed a order for the Amazon Fire TV stick. Ordered it on the next day delivery. Asked for collection at a newsagent on the Collect Plus network. I have used Collect Plus before for other retailers, but not this newsagents. Used to use another newsagents, but they must have stopped being a CP agent as their address didn't come up.

I kept checking on the delivery status on Amazon and it stated my package was sent out on delivery at 7:15am. Then by 4:30pm, I had no update from Amazon and worried as the newsagent closes at 6pm. So I went on CP website and input my tracking number. Only to find parcel problem please ring (phone number) at 1:22pm. Rang them and they said there was no reason why the driver didn't drop off the parcel there as the shop was open and parcel was on the van. The guy I spoke to the phone that the driver dropped off some parcels at other CP agents within a quarter of a mile of the newsagent. CP are unsure what exactly happened - was it the driver or the agent at fault.

I contacted Amazon on the contact us page asking whats going on as their status of the parcel was the same as this morning.

They apologised and extended my trial by 30 days - doubling it.

    I think most companies would do the same in similar circumstances, but still a nice gesture.

    Just be sure to cancel before the end of the trial ;) Unless you want to keep it.
