Energy switches should now take less than 3 weeks, and you can start the ball rolling on the day you move in (technically before, as there is a cooling off period).
You should let FU know the read when you move in (even if the previous tenants have too - just in case).
You can ask FU what tariffs they have, just don't choose one with an exit fee if you plan to switch. DD is usually cheaper than paying the bill when it arrives, but for three weeks it may not be worth it.0 -
Yes, just tell them the date the property is yours legally, and that you'd like a meter putting in. They'll send someone out to see if you can have a meter installed. If you don't want a meter Seven Trent (in my case it was ST), will put you on a standard tariff, and try to bill you for a whole year in one go.
I am with ST water also. I don't want a water meter put in.
On the point you made about being billed for the whole year - can you tell me if ST charge upfront for the following year?0 -

Thanks, I'd not thought about an exit fee, or DD payment being an issue. Very helpful advice, I'll be sure to check this.0
