I'm also adding a recommendation for my local independent mortgage broker who has been great, if our buyer wishes to remortgage at some point, as well as a general warning to avoid Connells and their sales practice.0

In a friends house they were left window keys/ other random keys in the locks they were meant for so the buyers could find out what went where a bit easier which they said was nice.
Also a note for where the stop cocks are, and burglar alarm codes would be useful, and if there are any other general "unwritten " rules- say, each house/ flat ha s a space in front of their drive but can use that space for visitors.
A good question to ask or try whilst nearby is what is mobile phone signal like with x provider, in case it's terrible?
Also, should it be decorated in a reasonable state, maybe if they have any of the same batch of paint they used so you can patch up any damaged paintwork from the move, without having to rematch paint colours or wholly redecorate.0 -
When we bought our current house, it would have been nice for them to have left us with the alarm code, rather than us having to stand outside our new abode with alarm blaring.
A friend bought a house from a deceased guy's estate, the house came fully furnished, including the guy's clothes and a freezer full of food.0 -
Well I completed yesterday.....
Questions I asked the seller? - None because she left the keys with a shop and then called the estate agent!
The house was left mostly clear of their stuff which was good, however, it is absolutely filthy (and looks to have been for years), so tomorrow is a 'roll your sleeves up' day of getting stuck in.0 -
When we sold our house, we left it spotless with a bottle of bubbly, all guarantees, trades people who'd worked for us & lists of instructions. At 9am the buyers removal van turned up & asked to start bringing the contents of the van in. We said no so they sat in the lane outside blocking it from any cars going in & out. Made the neighbours furious. 10.30 & they buyers turned up. they wanted to come in to use the loo. I was on the phone to our solicitor & she was shouting "DON'T LET THEM IN!!" but too late they pushed past & were in. We then had to put up with them till 2pm while we were trying to finish loading up our van.
they didn't want to go & tried to get the estate agent to bring the keys to them . Ha d a heck of a job to get them out.
When we got to our new home, it was filthy, their dog had peed on every carpet & the neighbours told us the son-in-law had stripped the place of everything. He sure had - lots of things listed in the fixtures & fittings were gone. Apparently he through it all in a skip. What on earth was the point in that???0 -
Who knows eh? I know the process is stressful but some people, it's just insane the things they do isn't it.
I guess everyone's different and lives by different standards and principals!0
