key recovery with your breakdown cover

Hello does anyone know if there are any breakdown companies that include recovering keys from you car using a locksmith and they pay for it?

That's normally an addition to your insurance.

If you can't get in through the hatchback/boot, breaking a quarterlight or smallest side window to get in to retrieve the keys and replacing with a scrapyard one is normally quicker and cheaper than involving a locksmith and insurance company.

    RAC offer key recovery.
  • !!!!!! thats not an option as the locksmith was £80 and the insurance excess was £100
  • Colino, I did think about breaking a window but getting it replaced would have been a lot more than £80 and the locksmith took less than 30 sec to get into the car.
  • Mercdriver f they do pay for a locksmith to come and get your keys can you let me know where it actually says this. Because I have found that they don't offer this option.

Green Flag came out to us when we locked keys in the boot in a Morrisons car park. Used some kinda pump to prise the window open a little and unlocked door.

Poor guy spent 20 mins getting into it in the pouring rain, then another 10 mins fishing around in the boot among the shopping to find the keys.

I've heard they will offer to 'break a window' for you. No thanks, I can do that myself. Maybe it depends who you get on the day.

I have had the embarrassment of having to call the RAC twice because I have locked the keys in my car. No windows were broken.

    I didn't have Homestart.
