Hi all,
I'm very new to this website/forum. looking for help and support in challenging a PCN that my partner has recived this morning.
This happened on Sunday 5th July. It was following a lazy shopping spree she had in Matalan's Chelmsford. The Riverside Shpping centre, managed by ParkingEye.
I can't believe we can be penalised for spending longer shopping in a shopping centre? Confused!
What should I do next?
Regards

You should read the stickies and complain like mad in writing to every retail outlet on the site. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

Hi,
I have tried an instant complaint to the store direct and the person I spoke said they can do nothing... they have had many complaints and can do nothing...?
Don't like that as an answer.
I have looked briefly through the stickies and see one to PE through the same retailer and they helped considerably... was back in Dec13/Jan14
I have now tried emailing the retailers customers services dept and hopefully get a different response..
Finding a receipt is proving difficult at the moment but haven't given up hope yet... sadly can't remember if it was cash or card, but again we can investigate that one tomorrow..
Suppose I could try approaching PE with the truth... it was a lazy Sunday PM shopping spree and see how they respond?
Is it worth a punt?

Follow the NEWBIES thread. There is a strict protocol to winning appeals and the excuse of what happened on the day is not one which Parking Eye will accept. They are just after your money and need you to contribute towards the £1000 per week they pay to 'rent' this car park.REVENGE IS A DISH BETTER SERVED COLD0

Nooooo - PE aren't interested in the truth !!!
Google Barry Beavis - his case was Riverside Chelmsford
Plus you need to read the sticky thread **NEWBIES!! to gen up on this skimdustry and what's needed to challenge these charges0 -
Add an extra point to the NEWBIES template appeal ...
f) Occupants of the vehicle were genuine shoppers at the location, spending in excess of £XXX during the visit. Please see attached copies of receipts for spend during the visit.
(Redact any personal info from the copies).
PE are generally fair when appeals include evidence of spending at the location. (There seems to be an unofficial minimum of £30).0 -
Just to complete this thread...
Made an appeal using their process, attached a copy of the card statement showing genuine custom at the local shops to the value of around £50... on that day
Result, they have cancelled the PCN.

Well done.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Of course all that hassle the OP was forced to to go through could have been avoided if there was somebody at the exit to check the receipts of genuine shoppers. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

I would get very cross if someone accused me of shoplifting, although apparently ii is quite common in Australia. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Or any of a dozen approaches to manage a car park that aren't rigged to scam money from people.0
