If you want to lower upfront costs you can economise by splitting a bag of mixed veg into separate bags!0

Great idea but can you buy all those things separate, and if so is it really cheaper than 69p per kg?
Carrots 50p/kg
Caulflower 90p/vegetable assuming it's about 750 gram. (£1.20/kg)
Broccoli 50p (£1.49/kg)
Garden peas - £2.70 (£1.49/kg)
Now the make up of the veg mix is 400g Carrot, 300g Cauliflower, 200g Garden Peas and 100g Broccoli.
So that's 20p + 36p + 30p + 15p. £1.01/kg by making the mix up yourself.
I personally don't like the Sainsburys Basics veg mix not sure what it is about it but it tastes very watery. Did they drain the water after blanching and instantly cool the mix down by flash freezing? I really don't think so. It doesn't taste like they have.
Personally I make my own up. I prefer petit pois, sweet corn, baby carrots and broccoli.
As the OP is asking they want quality and that's what I would do.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I prefer asda's mix, I don't get ones with cauliflower as OH doesn't like it and it's the only one I can find where the carrots are 'whole' and not small stick pieces0
