Picture rail replacement and plastering

Hello all, I am about to have a room skimmed and also need to replace the picture rail as a large section is missing. Is it a good idea to remove the existing picture rail and glue it back in place before or after the room is skimmed? Or just it not make much difference either way?

I would say take it off, reskim and then put the picture rail back up. Will be easier, less messy, and if in the future you decide you don't like the picture rail, you won't have a gap in the plaster when it's taken off. It'd be much more fiddly (and take more time) to skim with the picture rail already up. I'm not a plasterer but I would guess that's the case!Every act of kindness, no matter how small, isn’t wasted ❤️

Best to take it all off as said. I would probably not put it back unless it is a real period feature.0
