Who pays for management information pack?

Options
Hi all,

I'm in the process of buying my first property, a leasehold flat.

When I initially spoke to my solicitor, I asked if the quote she gave me included everything, and she said yes, except that there would be a charge for the management information pack from the management company.

I spoke to the management company yesterday and they confirmed that they had received a request for the MIP from the seller’s solicitors and have requested a fee from them of £120 +vat.

Is it the seller or buyer who pays these fees? My solicitor gave me the impression that I would be paying but having searched a little online it seems to be the vendors who pay the fee.

Thanks for your help!

As the vendor, I was responsible for paying for this. (This was only last week.) Your vendor is lucky re: the cost - I was charged £300!!

I've also just been charged £240 as a seller for the management info. I'm hoping I'll get it back on completion (or knocked off my legal fees anyway) as I don't have a management agent, just a freeholder and I'm pretty sure he won't charge a fee!

When I bought, and then sold, my first flat it was the seller who paid - IMO it contains information that the seller has to provide in order to sell the property - just like the leasehold information, fixtures and fittings details etc - so they should be the one to pay.
