Universal Studios, Hollywood & Disneyland, CA - cheap tickets

Hello,

Looking for cheap tickets for the above theme parks for 5/6people. Will be there at the end of August and i have heard that their is some discounts to be had then as its the ends of season...but where are they, and can i get them in advance.

...anybody any experience with this

...Also, on a seperate note for you california experts. Does this seem dooable or to much driving & unworthwhile for 4days in which we want/need to squeeze in as much as possibile.

Day 1 - head from downtown LA to SD early, staying their that night

Day 2 - head back up to LA from SD leaving late afternoon stopping off on OC for dinner, then back up to downtown LA that night(where are hotel is)

Day 3 - Disneyland

Day 4 - Universal

...For day 1 & 2, whats the times to leave to avoid rushhour and how long will these journeys take
