Sse equigas

I received a letter from my supplier...

We regularly review your payments...

We've completed a review of your payments and confirm your payment of £20 each week is too much.

We've worked out your payment should be £8 each week.

There is a standing order with this letter for you to complete and send to your bank. It's important you send this form to your bank immediately so the changes to your weekly payment can by made. If you don't, then we may need to remove you from this scheme...

BONKERS!

Pay less or else! :rotfl:

    Weekly standing order?

You were paying £20 a week(£1,040pa) to Equigas?

Are you sure it is not a scam?

Only you can authorise changes to a standing order. You need to contact your bank to do so. Unless you act promptly, then you will delay paying less. That would be bonkers!

It doesn't say pay less or else. It says they may remove you from the scheme, not that they will do.

    (a) my guess is that part is standard wording used for any amendment to the payment plan i.e. an increase as well as a decrease.
    (b) the supplier should not be collecting unreasonable amounts and has limitations on how much excess they hold.

If you don't wish to spend time contacting the bank to manage your payments, have you considered opting for Direct Debit where the supplier will manage everything for you?
You will also be fully covered by the terms of the Direct Debit Guarantee.

Finally, as this is a moneysaving website, consult a comparison site to find the best gas deal for you. For your consumption levels (even the lowered cost), there are much better deals available than Ebico Equigas.
Not doing so would also be BONKERS!

As the £8 may well include a reduction for overpayment then not altering your order can result in an increase in future weekly payments. Or a change to quarterly payments - for many people who do choose weekly payments that is a problem.

    The warning is not bonkers.

And buying from Ebico when you are using more than £400 per year is (very probably) bonkers itself. But it's your money - your magnanimity in wanting to pay extra is welcomed by those very few who do pay less with Ebico.

(Edit: ah, I note 'Equigas' not 'Ebico'. More than £417 on gas only from Ebico - that is definitely bonkers.)
